Construction expected to begin this year on new First Nations-led primary care centre

AGASSIZ, B.C. — A new primary care centre north of the Fraser River between Agassiz and Mission is expected to begin construction sometime this year.

The Sts’ailes Community Care Campus (SCCC) will be First Nations-led and built at 46090 Lougheed Highway, according to a news release.

The SCCC will be owned and operated by the Sts’ailes. During construction, services will be provided at a temporary location in Agassiz at 4690 Salish Way in the Sts’ailes Administration Building.

“When it opens, the Sts’ailes Community Care Campus will provide a fully integrated blend of contemporary medical services and person-first, culturally appropriate health and wellness services to Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and residents alike,” said Adrian Dix, minister of health, in the release.

The SCCC will have 14.7 full-time health-care workers including primary-care providers, traditional healers and allied health practitioners. The campus will work collaboratively with the Chilliwack Primary Care Network.
