British Columbia education minister George Abbott and Surrey school district representatives broke ground on Goldstone Park Elementary School on August 2nd.
The ceremony marks the start of the next building phase for two elementary schools, along with additions to two other schools. Goldstone Park Elementary will be built in the South Newton area. It is expected to cost $14.7 million and will have capacity for 555 kindergarten to Grade 7 students.
Katzie Elementary will be built in the Clayton East area and will cost $14 million with capacity for 605 kindergarten to Grade 7 students.
Fraser Heights Elementary will receive an addition at a cost of $7.1 million, resulting in increased space for 200 students. ..dEcole Panorama Ridge Secondary’s addition is expected to cost $8.4 million and will create space for 300 students.
Construction on the projects is expected to be complete by September 2013.
