VANCOUVER – A new child care facility located on the roof of an elementary school has opened in Vancouver’s Marpole neighbourhood.
The Marpole Neighbourhood House Child Care and Early Years Learning Centre is a 69-space facility located on the rooftop of the newly rebuilt David Lloyd George Elementary school and accommodates infants, toddlers and children aged three to five years old.
The project is a partnership between the City of Vancouver, the Government of B.C. and the federal government. The federal and B.C. governments contributed $3 million in funding from ChildCareBC’s New Spaces Fund.
The City of Vancouver funded the remaining construction costs of $6.3 million through development contributions.
