Federal government investing $19 million in Science World upgrades
SHUTTERSTOCK — The federal government is putting $19 million in funding into upgrades for Vancouver’s Science World.

VANCOUVER – Science World’s iconic geodesic dome in Vancouver will receive $19 million in federal funding for infrastructure upgrades.

The funding will insulate and address necessary repairs in the dome to support the re-opening of its theatre, an Infrastructure Canada release said.

The money will also support priority repairs to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and electrical systems, decking and pilings repairs, and upgrades to the building envelope as well as adding new accessibility features.

The federal government is investing in the project through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program. It previously announced $20 million in funding on April 23, 2023 for infrastructure priorities at Science World and $9.3 million of that funding will go to this project, the release said.
