KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Earlier this month a small area of the top of the north parkade structure at Kelson Group Property Development’s City Gardens project collapsed during a concrete pour causing minor damage to the structure.
The developer’s president Jason Fawcett reported the collapse occurred the morning of March 5 and no one was injured. A structural engineering team was slated to assess the area and determine the work required to repair the area.
“Because of the small area that this incident impacted, once cleared to do so, crews were able to continue their work on other parts of the development, including Trillium tower,” Fawcett stated. “This incident will not impact overall timelines for construction of the project or anticipated move in dates for future residents. I would like to thank our onsite team of safety representatives and superintendents for their diligence in building out and implementing good safety practices, so that when an event occurs like it did, we can react quickly to ensure the safety of those onsite.”
The reason for the collapse is still under investigation and the company is working with WorkSafeBC and engineering consultants pertaining to the incident.
Coined Kelson Group’s “landmark development” in downtown Kamloops, the City Gardens project continues to progress.
According to an update, for the Trillium tower level 21 window wall is installed, framing is being completed on level 18, flooring and cabinets are being installed on level 10 and drywall is starting on level 14. The project is slated for completion later this year.
The Alyssium tower recently completed several concrete pours and preparation is underway for the integration of The Pines to the parkade.
