Scope

Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Markdale, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 37,600-square-foot, one-story above grade, 314-seat educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and 39-seat day care center. The scope of work included in this Request for tender is generally to provide all necessary plant, materials and labour to complete the construction of the proposed new Beavercrest Community School and Childcare Facility including the demolition of the existing school building and demolition and restoration of all associated site works within the time frame indicated in the contract documents and in strict accordance to the drawings and specifications which form an integral part of this Request for Tender. The proposed new building is one story in height and approximately 37,600 gross sq ft in size. The new building is to be constructed as per the drawings and specifications, using conventional concrete strip footings and foundation walls, load bearing masonry walls with structural steel columns and beams as indicated on the drawings. The floor system is comprised of a concrete slab on grade. The roof system consists of specified Modified Bitumen roofing membrane over Polyisocyanurate insulation, vapour barrier, steel deck with steel beams and open web steel joists sloped to drain. The subsoil for the proposed building requires cut of existing soil and importing of suitable granular fill to create a structural mat. TIMELINE: General contractor has been secured. Groundbreaking was held July 2023.
