Scope

Site work for a mixed-use development in Contrecoeur, Quebec. Design plans call for site work for a transportation facility; water / sewer project; and road / highway. Development of a container port terminal with a maximum annual capacity of 1.15 million containers on owner's property in Contrecoeur, located approximately 40 kilometers downstream from Montreal. The project will include the construction of a 675 meter quay with two berths to accommodate vessels from 39,000 to 75,400 deadweight tons. The project would also include the development of a seven-track rail yard, a container storage and handling area, an intermodal rail yard, support buildings, rail and road accesses, a truck control area and a viaduct on Route 132. TIMELINE: The project is in a preliminary stage. Work of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada is ongoing and that the overall procurement process remains subject to obtaining the required approvals and permits. In response to the Request for Qualification for the design and construction of a new container terminal in Contrecur, the Montreal Port Authority has received bid responses from five bidders, of which three passed the technical and financial hurdles. These were: - Ancre Contrecur, represented by Dragados Canada and including US engineer Aecom. - CAP Contrecur, led by Vinci subsidiaries Eurovia Québec Grands Projets, Janin Atlas, Soletanche Bachy International and Vinci Infrastructure Canada. This bid is supported by Australian professional services company GHD Consultants, the North American arm of Danish consultant Cowi and the Canadian subsidiary of US consultant CH2M Hill. - Kiewit-Pomerleau, which is composed of Nebraska-based contractor Kiewit, Toronto contractor Pomerleau, with consultancy services from Quebec's CIMA+, Solmatech and Englobe, together with Ontario's Hatch. These consortia are invited to submit their proposal for design and build the terminal. Timelines of the project development are being finalized.
