Scope

Renovation of a medical facility in Calgary, Alberta. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility. SUB AWARDS. Scope of work is as follows: Phase 1 - Component 1 - Chilled Water Upgrade (CWU) .1 The CWU scope is to address the chilled water capacity shortages when the newly developed Level 3 and Level 5 of the South Addition are completed and throughout the facility. .2 The CWU scope will include the removal and replacement of two existing 1000 ton chillers located in the power plant with two new 1500 ton chillers. .3 The scope also includes, the removal and replacement one existing 2500 ton with one new 3500 ton cooling tower with variable speed fan drives. .4 The replacement of the existing condenser water pumps, chilled water pumps and variable speed drives to match the additional load. .5 Electrical and other associated equipment will be updated to match the upgraded chillers and cooling towers. .6 Existing heat exchanger to be upgraded and associated piping. .7 The CWU scope is required to be completed, commissioned, tested and operational one year prior to the ICU/CCU scope is completed and operational. .8 The CWU scope requires careful coordination with the RGH site to ensure chilled water is available during the cooling season. Phase 1 - Component 2 - Intensive Care Unit / Coronary Care Unit (ICU/CCU) .1 The RGH Intensive Care Unit / Coronary Care Unit (ICU/CCU) currently operates an integrated service including 10 ICU and 7 CCU beds. To increase the RGH critical care capacity to 2030 and beyond the ICU/CCU Redevelopment scope of the project will include the fit-out of the Level 5 shelled space of the South Addition. .2 The fit-out will include ICU/CCU patient care beds and the required clinical support areas, staff services and patient and family support spaces within the department to improve the quality and safety of patients and staff. .3 A Respiratory Therapy department will be consolidated into the ICU/CCU space and will service all Inpatient Units and the Emergency Department. .4 The entire Level 5 shelled space is allocated to this scope. The available space is approximately 3,591 CGSM. .5 The Level 5 shelled space is located directly above the 24 hour operating Emergency Department Phase 2 - Gastrointestinal Clinic (GI Clinic) .1 The GI Clinic scope will consist of the fit-out of approximately 972m2 of the shelled space on Level 3 of the South Addition of the Highwood Tower. An additional 175m2 is allocated to develop a circulation corridor to access the clinic from the main elevators and provide exit to the stairwell. .2 The goal for the GI Clinic is to increase service delivery capacity and improve the patient experience through enhanced patient privacy, safety and security. .3 The fit-out will include procedure rooms, prep/recovery bays, clinical support areas, staff support areas and patient and family support areas. .4 The fit-out will include a scope re-processing area to accommodate oneway flow. .5 The Level 3 shelled space allocated to this scope of work is directly below the 24 hour operating Emergency Department. Estimated Value: $40,000,000 to $41,800,000 TIMELINE: Project construction has been delayed. The Construction Manager (CM) has a letter of intent from Alberta Infrastructure to proceed with the construction. CM is mobilizing on site; completion is targeted for approx. 16 months. *Subcontractor contract values are unreleased for publication; cost reflects the estimated value of the entire project.
