Halton Regional Centre Redevelopment and Optimization Project

Scope

Site work and renovation of a municipal facility in Oakville, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility. The Halton Regional Centre (HRC) at 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville accommodates Region government administration offices and the current Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) headquarters. The HRC was constructed in two major phases (1978 and 1991) and is subdivided into three major blocks currently labelled as Block A, B and C. The HRC consists of a two storey above grade facility with a basement level constructed under Blocks A and C, as well as a third storey mechanical penthouse. The existing HRC has an approximate Gross Floor Area (GFA) of 276,000 sq. ft. The labelling of the HRC s three major blocks will be relabelled as part of this project as West Block (previously Block A), Main Block (previously Block B) and East Block (previously Block C). Halton Regional Centre does not currently have sufficient space to accommodate all Regional staff. Approximately 400 staff from various Regional departments work in offsite leased facilities. The 'Halton Regional Centre Redevelopment and Optimization Project' aims to provide the necessary accommodations for Regional staff and services through this undertaking which includes the interior redevelopment and modernization of the HRC through a phased construction approach that would span approximately 2.5 years. Project awarded to joint venture Matheson-BDA Inc.
