Lower Don Trail Bike Bridges and Park Footbridges

Scope

Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Toronto, Ontario. Working plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel. Lower Don trail bike bridges and park footbridges - river valley park north and river valley park south for port lands flood protection project in the city of Toronto. EllisDon Corporation is the Construction Manager for the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation's Cherry Street storm water and lake filling project and port lands flood protection project. EllisDon invites eligible companies, firms or joint ventures to submit proposals for the construction and fabrication of the Lower Don trail bike bridges and park footbridges in river valley park south and river valley park north. The base proposal work includes: Perform fabrication of two painted steel and timber bike bridges incorporating salvaged heritage building girders, including related mockups for review; Construct concrete piles (caissons), approach slabs, architectural concrete abutments with custom form liners, wingwalls and perform finishing works, conducting local dewatering as required; Transport the bike bridges to, and install in, river valley park south; Provide infrastructure for bike bridge underside downlights for integration with the park lighting system and coordinate function testing; and, Excavate, supply and install structural backfill aggregate. The following provisional and budget dependent works are included: Construct cast in place concrete footbridges (one each north and south) complete with piles (caissons), foundation/footing, abutments, approach slabs, formed integral curbs, fabricated kick rails and finishing works, performing local dewatering as required; Provide infrastructure for bike bridge LED tape lights for integration with the park lighting system and coordinate function testing; Perform finishing fill placement; and, Perform concrete repair work on the existing Cherry Street bridge south pit wall. TIMELINE: Tendering for the construction and fabrication of the Lower Don trail bike bridges and park footbridges in river valley park south and river valley park north has closed at the Construction Manager. Bids came in over budget. Owner is determining the direction of the project. Project timelines are currently unknown. *Construction budget is unreleased for publication.
