The City of Saskatoon is asking for city council permission to go ahead with the first steps of building two new road interchanges. An urgent report has been added to the agenda of council’s Feb. 29 meeting.
"We are taking the unusual step of seeking procurement of these projects before the federal government funding has been secured," says major projects director Mike Gutek.
The city made an application to the Building Canada Fund seeking $29 million for the Highway 16 and Boychuk Drive interchange portion of this project, with approximately $14.52 million coming from each of the federal and provincial governments.
Negotiations with Dream Developments concluded in August 2015 and confirmed a funding strategy for the interchange at McOrmond Drive and College Drive.
