The International Union of Operating Engineers local 793 has reached a tentative contract settlement with the Heavy Construction Association of Windsor, Ontario.
The International Union of Operating Engineers local 793 announced Tuesday it has reached a tentative contract settlement with the Heavy Construction Association of Windsor, Ontario.
About 300 IUOE Local 793 members have been on strike since May 28. The workers were employed on construction of the Windsor-Essex Parkway, which would extend Highway 401 to the U.S. border, plus a number of road, sewer, watermain and excavation contracts in Essex and Kent Counties.
The Oakville, Ontario-based union stated in a press release Tuesday it is recommending members vote in favour of the agreement.
A ratification meeting is scheduled Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Serbian Centre, 6770 Tecumseh Road East in Windsor.
The workers have not had a contract since April 30. A key issue was overtime.
