Save Anmore opposes rezoning plan
A group of residents of Anmore, B.C. today announced the formation of the Save Anmore Coalition to fight a plan to spot-zone the southern half of the village to urban status from its current rural designation. The group said the rezoning is the “precursor to environmental degradation, clearcutting of trees, high-density development, overcapacity of our transportation routes and insurmountable pressures on regional parks and lakes.” Anmore is located northeast of Vancouver.
City of Edmonton wins two planning awards
The Canadian Institute of Planners has given two planning awards to the City of Edmonton. An Award for Planning Excellence was given for the Open Option Parking project and an Award of Merit for Edmonton’s City Plan. The annual awards recognize innovation, impact on the profession and are the highest level of recognition the institute gives for professional planning projects.
NECA conference returns to Nashville
The National Electrical Contractors Association has announced its 2021 NECA Convention and Trade Show will be an in-person event in Nashville, Tenn. from Oct. 9 to 12. The conference will also feature a hybrid virtual option with education sessions available to all registrants not able to attend in person. More information is available at necaconvention.org.
