Maureen Moneta joins AIOC board

EDMONTON, ALTA. – Maureen Moneta is officially the newest board member of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation.

Moneta is senior executive officer of the Rupertsland Institute, a Métis organization. She has experience as a chartered accountant and corporate director with a background in auditing, financial operations and governance, according to a news release.

“I am honoured and excited to welcome Maureen Moneta to the AIOC board,” said board chair Stephen Buffalo in the release.

“AIOC has a bright future and I look forward to the work ahead as we continue to help create opportunities for Indigenous communities to gain stakes in major resource development projects.”

Since its inception in 2019, the AIOC has backed more than $400 million in Indigenous investment in resource projects and assisted almost 30 Indigenous communities in gaining equity stakes in major natural resource projects, states the release.
