ICE District announces Loblaws as anchor tenant
ICE DISTRICT JOINT VENTURE — ICE District Properties has announced a 22,000 square foot Loblaws CityMarket store will be the anchor tenant in Block BG, the site of the old Greyhound Terminal in downtown Edmonton. The facility is scheduled for completion by 2020.

EDMONTON — The ICE District Properties joint venture has announced a Loblaws CityMarket store will be the anchor tenant on Block BG, the site of the old Greyhound Terminal.

The 22,000-square-foot facility located on the corner of 103 Ave and 103 St. will occupy the second floor of the building and is intended as a one-stop shopping destination for both those living in the district’s residential buildings and the surrounding neighbourhood.

“We are proud to partner with Loblaw Companies Limited and we see this as a strong investment opportunity for downtown Edmonton, specifically in ICE District,” said Katz Group senior vice-president of communications and government relations Tim Shipton in a statement.

“Announcing Block BG’s anchor tenant is a major milestone, as it showcases the continued progress and evolution of ICE District,” added Darren Durstling, president and CEO of ONE Properties, an ICE District joint venture partner.

The store will open in 2020 and will be Edmonton’s second Loblaws CityMarket.

“ICE District is a great location for a Loblaws CityMarket store given the trendy, desirable area the District has become,” stated Loblaw Companies market franchise vice-president Derrick Pittman.

The ICE District contains both residential and commercial facilities and Rogers Place, the city’s new home for the Edmonton Oilers, and is the home of Stantec Tower, the 66-storey development which is the tallest building in Western Canada.
