MilliporeSigma opens new California plant
MilliporeSigma, the U.S. and Canadian life science business of Merck KGaA, yesterday announced the opening of its second Carlsbad, Calif.-based facility. The new $110-million, 140,000-square-foot facility will more than double the life science business sector’s existing capacity to undertake large-scale commercial and industrial manufacturing for viral gene therapy.
Shipyards wins two awards
The Shipyards, a mixed-use development on the North Vancouver waterfront has won an award from the National Trust for Canada in the Ecclesiastical Insurance Cornerstone Award in the Transformative Project category and an Excellence on the Waterfront award in the Top Honour category by The Waterfront Center. The Shipyards opened in 2019 and is anchored by a reimagined machine shop known as “Shipyard Commons” which features a public skating plaza in winter and a splash park in summer.
