Direct Equipment West Ltd. wins $2 million city contract
SHUTTERSTOCK

VANCOUVER — Direct Equipment West Ltd. has been awarded a three-year contract valued at $2.237 million to provide shoring equipment to the City of Vancouver.

The contract was awarded by the bid committee on June 30 due to an extended break from city council. It was brought before council for final approval on Oct. 25.

A report on the contract notes the city has some of its own shoring equipment but often relies on outside sources for specialized equipment.

“There are many shoring set sizes that are not used on a regular basis, so it is more cost effective for the city to rent these units on a project-by-project basis,” the report reads.

“Some of these specialized sets would be maintenance hole sets, bell hole sets, slide rail shoring, etc.”

The three-year contract contains the option for a six-year extension with Direct Equipment.
