REGINA — Housing is booming in Saskatchewan.

The province is seeing the largest increase of housing starts in the country, with urban housing starts up 53 per cent in the first three months of 2023 compared to the same time last year.

“Increased housing starts mean families and investors see Saskatchewan’s potential as a great place to live, work and raise a family. This is growth that works for everyone, said Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison in a news release.

Out of all the provinces, Saskatchewan saw the fourth largest per cent increase in housing starts in March 2023, up 33.8 per cent compared to last March.

Other economic growth includes a 43.7 per cent increase in merchandise exports, a 30.3 per cent increase in wholesale trade numbers, a 2.7 per cent increase in construction investment and a 1.7 per cent increase in job creation.
