CPPIB invests in Indian infrastructure trust
The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board today announced the acquisition of an additional 15.9 per cent of the total units in India-based IndInfravit Trust through two separate transactions. IndInfravit is an infrastructure investment trust sponsored by L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Limited. The combined spending on the two transactions is $173 million.
New seismically safe Vancouver schools open
Three new schools have opened in Vancouver as seismically safe replacements for previous high-risk buildings. Almost $70 million was invested in Sir Sandford Fleming, Maple Grove and Lord Tennyson elementary schools. Lord Selkirk Elementary School has also completed $5.7 million in seismic upgrades as of May 3.
Construction begins on Swan Hills geothermal plant
Razor Energy Corp. subsidiary FutEra Power Corp. announced it has entered the project execution stage of its co-produced geothermal power project in Swan Hills, Alta. The $20 million project, built in part with grants from Natural Resources Canada, Alberta Innovates and Emissions Reduction Alberta, will produce up to three megawatts of green geothermal electricity in its first stage.
