REGINA, SASK. – The governments of Saskatchewan and Canada have announced a combined $19.7 million in funding for 25 infrastructure projects in the province.

The federal government is providing just over $10.8 million and the provincial government $8.9 million, states a news release.

The various recipients are contributing a combined total of $7.6 million for their projects and must cover any additional costs.

Projects include construction of new facilities at the First Nations University of Canada’s Land-Based Learning Centre, improvements to Estevan’s Leisure Centre, a lifecycle upgrade to the refrigeration plant at the West Central Event Centre in the Town of Kindersley and infrastructure improvements across several rural areas.

“These investments will increase Indigenous cultural learning opportunities, provide recreational opportunities, improve our rural transportation system and support our environment,” said Don McMorris, minister of government relations in Saskatchewan, in the release.
