RICHMOND, B.C. – The Government of British Columbia is making room for 150 more students at a Richmond, B.C. elementary school.

Six new classrooms are planned for Talmey Elementary School each with an individual HVAC system.

“Our government is taking action by using innovative solutions like prefabricated designs, which are a faster way to bring the services people need, like schools, to growing communities,” said B.C. Minister of Education and Child Care Rachna Singh in a statement.

B.C. is putting $9 million into the project with the new addition to the school expected to be ready for students by 2025, a release said. The expansion is in addition to two other elementary schools in Richmond that have prefabricated additions under construction on track for 300 more students to use this September.

Samuel Brighouse Elementary will gain six new classrooms creating 150 new student spaces and William Cook Elementary will gain five new classrooms creating125 new student spaces, both by fall 2024.
