The Alberta government and the RCMP are warning consumers that a paving contractor under investigation for numerous complaints is operating in the province.
Highway Maintenance and Asphalt Repair Ltd is under investigation by both Service Alberta and the Edson RCMP after receiving 16 complaints in the past year about the company.
The company was previously operating as Department of Highway Maintenance and Asphalt Repair Ltd but was advised by Service Alberta that the name is misleading as the company is not affiliated with any level of government.
Consumers who have used the company allege the quality of asphalt and work was poor and the driveways worked on by the company began falling apart within days. It is also alleged the contractor did not use contracts that comply with provincial rules for door-to-door sales.
Though the contractor is being investigated, no charges have been laid.
