Stage 2 of Kamloops sewer project begins

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Extreme Excavating has started Stage 2 of the Tranquille Road Sanitary Main Upgrade Project in Kamloops, B.C.

Stage 2 includes a section of Tranquille Road from Desmond Street to Holt Street and is anticipated to be completed by mid-September.

Stage 1, Tranquille Road from Southill Street to Desmond Street, also continues as crews complete road restoration work and install a multi-use pathway on the south side of Tranquille Road.

Full closures of the Desmond Street and Tranquille Road intersection will be in effect until July 12 as crews work on the new sewermain. Vehicle traffic on Tranquille Road between Southill Street and Holt Street will be detoured via Greenfield Avenue, though locals will still have access.

Those wanting to access the Brock Shopping Centre and Desmond Street businesses and residences can do so from Desmond Street.

Transit will be rerouted to Greenfield Avenue and Sunnycrest Avenue. Bus stops will be temporarily relocated. Pedestrian access through the intersection will be maintained.

From July 13 to approximately mid-August, eastbound traffic, including transit, on Tranquille Road from Desmond Street to Holt Street will be allowed, however, all westbound traffic will be detoured via Greenfield Avenue. Transit (westbound/outbound) will be rerouted to Sunnycrest Avenue and Greenfield Avenue. Bus stops will be temporarily relocated.
