Edmonton composting facility given cancellation notice 

Alberta Environment and Parks has notified Cleanit Greenit that registration for its west Edmonton composting facility is cancelled effective June 30, 2022. Following detailed inspections of the facility, Alberta Environment and Parks has identified ongoing and persistent issues related to air, land and water. These include odour concerns and contaminants found in groundwater. 

Tender issued for four-lane project through Chase, B.C. 

Four-laning of the Trans-Canada Highway through Chase, B.C. will get underway this spring for the Chase Creek West to Chase Creek Bridge section. The project, which will be delivered through B.C.’s Community Benefits Agreement framework, will widen 1.6 kilometres of the highway from two to four lanes, add a grade-separated interchange at Brooke Drive and extend improvements on Brooke Drive to Shuswap Avenue. Construction is anticipated for completion by 2023.  

Feds invest in airport hangar featuring wood design 

The government of Canada is investing $800,000 in KF Aerospace to build a multi-use airport hangar at Kelowna International Airport featuring state-of-the-art floor and tall wall wood-based systems to accommodate the large spacing between columns. Funding for the project is provided through Natural Resources Canada’s Green Construction through Wood Program
