Yukon and federal government invest in Whitehorse school zone safety
The governments of Canada and the Yukon have announced a $820,000 investment for safety improvements in school zones in the City of Whitehorse. Improvements to pedestrian safety and calming traffic near several elementary schools will include a new sidewalk, zebra crosswalks, curb extensions, a mini-roundabout, a paved trail and LED pedestrian lights.
Graham awarded Strathcona Public Yards project
Graham Construction has announced the company has been awarded the Strathcona Public Yards project located east of Edmonton. The project will involve construction of a new pre-engineered shop building, expansion of an existing office building and conversion of four service bays in the west end of the existing building to office space and the addition of a second floor of offices.
Vancouver proposes building changes to streamline rental housing construction
The City of Vancouver is seeking public input on proposed actions to accelerate building of rental housing. Proposed actions are to speed up the approval process for six-storey rentals in commercial zones and simplify the rezoning process for four to six-storey rental buildings in areas close to local shopping and daily needs. The public can fill out an online survey and attend a virtual information session on June 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
