$32 million school expansion opens in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A 20-classroom expansion and new gymnasium at Valleyview Secondary School in Kamloops is open for students.

The expansion adds 525 seats to the school. The provincial government contributed $32.7 million, a press release states.

The Kamloops-Thompson School District contributed $1.75 million to the expansion.

“We are looking forward to the additional space that has been much-needed in this school, which was designed for 685 students with now more than 1,000 students,” said Heather Grieve, chair of the Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education, in the release.

B.C. has also invested more than $30 million in rebuilding Parkcrest Elementary in Kamloops. Construction has begun and the school is expected to open in 2024.
