INUVIK, N.W.T β The Government of Canada has announced $14 million in funding for the rehabilitation of the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway in the Northwest Territories.
Funds will support improvements by raising low profile embankment areas, improving drainage and installing guardrails along the existing highway, according to a news release.
βThe investment will not only make the highway safer and more reliable, it will ensure residents continue to benefit from improved social, educational and economic opportunities,β said Diane Archie, minister of infrastructure of the Northwest Territories, in the release.
The Canadian government will invest $10.5 million in the project while the Government of the Northwest Territories invests $3.5 million.
