VICTORIA – FlatIron Constructors Canada Limited has been awarded a $54.5 million contract to construct a new overpass on Highway 17 on Vancouver Island.
Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks and finish in spring 2025, according to a news release.
FlatIron will be replacing the northbound left turn onto Keating Cross Road with an overpass to eliminate the possibility of collisions between vehicles travelling in opposite directions.
The project will also see Keating Cross Road widened, a new sidewalk installed, Highway 17 widened, the Victoria-bound ramp realigned and access to Highway 17 at East Saanich Road and Martindale Road closed.
Total project budget is $76.8 million.
