VICTORIA — Kingston Construction Limited has been awarded a $10.4 million contract for the rehabilitation of the Chemainus River bridges in British Columbia.
The Arch Bridge and Truss Bridge carry more than 27,000 drivers every day on Highway 1. Work is expected to begin in the next few weeks and wrap up in winter 2024, according to a news release.
The project includes seismic upgrades to the Arch and Truss bridge; and deck and joint replacements as well as a recoating of the Truss Bridge.
Construction will start on Truss Bridge. Work on Arch Bridge will not begin until all the Truss Bridge work has been completed ensuring one lane is always open in either direction.
