B.C. invests $51.8 million in new Langley elementary school

LANGLEY, B.C. — A new 555-seat elementary school is coming to the Willoughby area of Langley.

The Government of British Columbia is investing $51.8 million in the development of the school in the northeastern Latimer neighbourhood. The school will have a neighbourhood learning centre that offers child care benefits, states a news release.

The project is in the design phase with construction expected to start in 2024 and students moving in in the fall 2025.

Construction will incorporate mass timber and include genderless accessible washrooms.

“The new elementary school in Langley’s rapidly growing Willoughby area will soon bring students, families and staff together to learn, grow, make friends and build community for generations to come,” said Premier David Eby in the release.
