VICTORIA — The Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, the first institution of its kind in North America, is receiving $4.5 million for renovations and upgrades at the Vancouver location.
Canuck Place was opened in 1995 and is seen as an international leader in pediatric palliative care, according to a news release.
The funding from the Government of British Columbia will enhance patient care rooms, improve ventilation, perform structural repairs to the roof and exterior, improve accessibility and create a new administrative building.
Construction is set to finish in 2025.
“This investment will improve quality, safety and efficiency in care for over 870 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from across B.C. and the Yukon,” said Denise Praill, CEO of Canuck Place, in the release.
