New Beaverlodge health facility begins construction in 2024

BEAVERLODGE, ALTA. – The Town of Beaverlodge has partnered with Edmonton-based land developer Landrex Inc. to build a new health complex to replace the current 67-year-old hospital.

The new infrastructure will meet current health facility standards and better support local delivery of more innovative and effective health services, a Government of Alberta release stated.

Services offered by the new complex will include outpatient care, ambulance services, inpatient care for serious health issues, community health services and various clinical support services like imaging, labs, pharmacy and rehabilitation.

The Mountview Health Complex will be built on 20 acres of land donated to the town by the McFarlane family and once the new health complex is complete, Alberta Health Services will lease and operate space within the facility and will make annual lease payments to the Mountview Health Limited Partnership with funding from the Alberta government.

Project design will begin shortly, the release said, with construction of the 9,000-square-metre facility expected to begin in spring 2024.

“The replacement of the Beaverlodge hospital is critical to our community and our region. We are very proud to be able to have led this innovative project, with our partner Landrex Inc., from conception to this announcement. The Mountview Health Complex will ensure that residents will continue to have access to a high level of care well into the future,” said Town of Beaverlodge Mayor Gary Rycroft in a statement.
