VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has approved a new design for General Brock Park in east Vancouver.

Park board staff will now begin preparing detailed designs for the renewal of General Brock Park with construction work anticipated to begin in early 2025.

New features will include an upgraded accessible playground, a new multi-sport court for basketball, ball hockey, tai chi and other activities and new seating walls to support skateboarding along with a new picnic area.

New walking, jogging and rolling routes will also be placed inside the ark, along with more trees and meadow plantings.

A new off-leash area for dogs will also be added to the park’s southeast corner.

The park board is also undergoing other projects this year, including South Kinross Park, part of 10 hectares of new parks planned for the East Fraser Lands area, later this spring, daylighting a steam in Kitsilano’s Volunteer and Tatlow parks, renew a playground in the south of Riley park and start construction of a new dog off-leash area in Cooper’s Park downtown along with a separated cycling path in Kitsilano Beach Park.
