WINNIPEG — Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is estimating an investment of $5.25 billion on highways and structures over the next five years, according to its Multi-year Infrastructure Investment Strategy, released late last year.

“We are glad to have a long-term investment plan in front of us, allowing industry to see, five years ahead, what are the department’s priorities,” MHCA president and CEO Chris Lorenc said in the association’s recent newsletter.

The investment plan is categorized by highways/structures, water-related infrastructure ($615 million), airport runway ($153 million) and general capital ($60 million) investment.

The plan provides details on project type, regional location, highway number, project location and length, total estimated project cost and whether the project is cost-shared or subject to federal funding, the release reads.
