A worker died in an Edmonton hospital after being crushed by an electrical panel at construction site in Spruce Grove.
“Workers were moving a tall electrical panel with a pallet jack, when the electrical panel fell on to one of the workers,” said Barrie Harrison, spokesperson for Alberta Occupational Health and Safety(OHS).
The incident occurred during the construction of a retail store at 151 Century Crossing in southeast Spruce Grove at site 12:15 pm on May 15.
“The worker was transported to a hospital in Edmonton, where he passed away later that evening,” said Harrison.
The 53 year old man was an employee of Canpo Electric Ltd and the prime contractor on the construction site is OML Construction Services Ltd.
Alberta OHS issued a stop work order on the building and is undertaking an investigation of the incident. The site was returned to the prime contractor on May 16.
