Worker dies after being struck by equipment at Edmonton Trans Mountain site

EDMONTON — A worker has died after being struck by equipment while working on the Trans Mount Pipeline Expansion project near Edmonton. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene. 

“Trans Mountain is deeply saddened to report that an employee of one of its contractors, SA Energy, was fatally injured as a result of an incident this afternoon,” reads a statement from the project team on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

According to Trans Mountain Corporation, the project owner, construction at the SA Energy worksite near Edmonton was immediately stopped and all appropriate authorities have been notified.

“This is a tragic incident and I know that staff and contractors at both SA Energy and Trans Mountain join me in extending our deepest sympathies to the worker’s family. They remain in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time,” said Ian Anderson, president and CEO of Trans Mountain Corporation, in the statement.
