SURREY, B.C. – A crane working on a highrise construction project in Surrey, B.C. collapsed on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 30.
The site is located near the corner of 104 Ave. and King George Boulevard.
In a statement to the Journal of Commerce, WorkSafeBC said they have issued a Stop Use order on the crane as well as a Stop Work order in the area around the crane. WorkSafeBC officers and its investigations and engineering teams are onsite and no injuries have been reported, the statement said.
The collapse is the second in the Lower Mainland in a week after a crane collapse incident in Burnaby forced the temporary closure of Lougheed Highway last Friday (Jan. 26).
