Two killed, one injured after shooting at Edmonton construction site

EDMONTON – Edmonton police are investigating the deaths of two men in the southwest portion of the city, one of whom is reportedly the owner of a homebuilding company.

According to police, at approximately 12 p.m. April 8 southwest branch patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of a jobsite near Cavanagh Boulevard SW and Cherniak Way SW.

Upon police arrival three injured males were located.

When EMS responded on scene, two men, a 49-year-old and a 57-year-old, were declared dead. A 51-year-old male was seriously injured.

Several local media outlets are reporting one of the victim’s to be Buta Singh Gill, the owner of Gill Built Homes Ltd. The company builds custom homes in the Edmonton area.

The Edmonton Police homicide section has since taken over the investigation. Police are not looking for any suspects.

Autopsies have been scheduled for today (Apr. 9) and Wednesday, Apr. 10.
