The 97-year-old Dawson Bridge in Edmonton is being upgraded. The structure is in the midst of getting a $22-million facelift. Construction crews will replace the road surface and bolts, as well as reinforce rusty trusses in an effort to extend its use for another 50 years.
There will also be miscellaneous concrete repairs to piers, pier caps, and abutments as well as complete blast cleaning and recoating of the entire bridge using a 3-coat zinc/epoxy/urethane paint system.
The general contractor is ConCreate USL Ltd. The work should be completed later this year.
