Project progress
About 20,000 square feet of custom-coloured concrete make up the Chinook Winds Skatepark in Airdrie, Alberta. The park was designed and built by New Line Skateparks in conjunction with van der Zalm & Associates Landscape Architects and Stantec Engineering. Burnco was the ready-mix supplier.
The park consists of a main plaza area with a three-tier bowl. A “snake run” winds through the park, a first for any skatepark in Alberta. The park was opened last month, but some minor landscaping still needs to be done. Airdrie is located just north of Calgary.
