The Front Street Parkade in New Westminster, B.C. is being renovated, after the western section of the structure was demolished.

In preparation for the partial reconstruction of the parkade, the eastern section is undergoing a complete rehabilitation, which started in May 2015. Rehabilitation work was scheduled to take place prior to demolition to ensure a supply of parking remains during the construction period. The decision was made to remove the western portion of the parkade following the adoption of the Downtown Parking Strategy, which highlighted the surplus of parking within the Front Street parkade. The partial removal of the Front Street Parkade is an important first step in achieving the goal of seamless connectivity to the waterfront.
