VANCOUVER – Marine Gateway, Vancouver’s first large-scale transit-oriented development, has won a Global Award for Excellence from the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

The project was one of 13 chosen from across the world and is the seventh award for Marine Gateway in the last two years. The winners are selected by an international jury of ULI members across various real estate disciplines.

Marine Gateway was built by Vancouver-based PCI Developments Corp and designed by Perkins & Will.
Ledcor was the general contractor.

It is a LEED Gold certified development with 415 condo units, 46 rental apartment units, 230,000-square-feet of retail and 260,000-square-feet of office space integrated with the Marine Drive Canada Line station.
“We are honoured to receive this international recognition from the ULI for Marine Gateway, a project that we are very proud of. The site previously had no housing and only 60 jobs,” PCI Developments president Andrew Grant said in a statement.
“Now, Marine Gateway is a vibrant, transit-oriented, complete urban community home to approximately 750 residents and 2,000 jobs.”

“Cities are about people — the way we interact, get around, and go about our daily routines. Great cities are made of great places that make the urban experience easy and enjoyable. These projects reflect the highest standards of design, construction, economics, planning, and management. But most important, they are improving people’s quality of life,” ULI Global CEO

Patrick Phillips described of the award winners which were selected from 25 projects nominated from across North America, Europe and Asia as the ULI’s Global Leaders in the Future of Urban Development.

PCI will begin construction of King George Hub, a transit-oriented development similar to Marine Gateway in spring 2018.
