Dockside Green project awarded LEED-ND v4 platinum certification

VICTORIA — The Dockside Green project in Victoria has been awarded LEED-ND v4 Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the first project in Canada to be recognized with a v4 Platinum designation.

Dockside Green was awarded the certification under LEED-ND v4 rating system, which ranks leadership in energy and environmental design for neighbourhood developments, for its neighbourhood plan.

Dockside Green placed third globally among LEED v4 ND projects, with a focus on design elements such as walkable streets, access to transit and bicycle facilities, parks and outdoor space, housing types and affordability, energy efficiency, local food production, indoor and outdoor water use reduction and certified green building.

“We set out to create a socially vibrant and environmentally sustainable neighbourhood. We’re proud of the work we’ve done so far and we’re really looking forward to watching this community grow under the leadership of Bosa Development,” Dockside Green Ltd. president Norm Shearing said in a statement.

Bosa Development reached an agreement to acquire Dockside Green earlier this year, effective Dec. 15.

Canada Green Building Council CEO Thomas Mueller added Dockside Green has been a sustainability leader since obtaining LEED certification in 2009, and said “the next phase of this development proves their ongoing commitment to developing smarter, healthier and more environmentally responsible communities for British Columbians.”
