Winnipeg 2021 budget invests in water and waste infrastructure 

The City of Winnipeg’s preliminary 2021 budget update is investing in a number of water and waste infrastructure projects as part of the city’s $2.3 billion capital investment plan. The city plans to invest $180 million over the next six years into its combined sewer overflow mitigation program; $117 million in watermain renewalsand $117 million in sewermain renewals over the next six years. It would also invest $39 million towards a residential water meter renewal plan 

City of Victoria initiative recognized as one of Canada’s top 100 recovery projects 

The City of Victoria’s Coastal Communities Social Procurement Initiative (CCSPI) has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Recovery Projects by Future of Good, a publication covering altruistic initiatives across business and non-profit sectors. CCSPI is a member-led initiative providing local governments across the region training, expertise and support to integrate social procurement practices and community benefits into their existing purchasing.  

BMO Centre at Calgary’s Stampede Park enters new construction phase 

The Calgary Stampede and development partner Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) are moving forward with a new phase of construction in the BMO Convention Centre expansion. Exhibition Hall F, the newly constructed 100,000 square foot exhibition space on the north side of the existing convention centre is now complete. The expansion is valued at $500 million and was funded equally by federal, provincial and municipal levels of government. The next phase of the project is removal of the Stampede Corral and BMO Centre Exhibition Hall A.
