First Notice: Feds invest in Alberta schools; CISC launches Built by Canadians Initiative; new chairman for Bird Construction

 

Feds invest in Alberta Francophone schools

The Government of Canada, in partnership with the Alberta government, is investing more than $3 million in two new Francophone schools in the province. The money will go to building community spaces as part of construction of École Saint-Vital in Beaumont, Alberta, and École des Quatre-Vents in Peace River, Alberta. The Alberta government is investing $34 million overall in both projects.

CISC to launch Built by Canadians Initiative

The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction is launching the Built by Canadians initiative, which will focus on several key areas. These include:

Revitalizing Canadian Industries: Investing in public and private infrastructure projects to stimulate economic growth and create jobs.

Building a healthy economy: Accelerate infrastructure projects and revitalize Canadian industries.

Rebuilding a solid economy: Focus on Canadian capacities for long-term prosperity.

Raboud appointed Bird chairman

Bird Construction has announced that Paul R. Raboud has been appointed chairman of the board. Raboud was the vice-chair of Bird until his retirement from that position in March 2017. He joined Bird in 1984 and was appointed a director in September 2008.
