Bird’s Arni Thorsteinson to receive Order of Manitoba

Arni Thorsteinson, a director on Bird Construction’s board of directors, has been selected for the Order of Manitoba. He was selected due to his entrepreneurship and for spearheading the Canadian Museum for Human Rights capital campaign. The ceremony is scheduled to be held on July 15.

Pembina Pipeline buys Inter Pipeline Ltd. for $8.3 billion

Pembina Pipeline Corporation and Inter Pipeline Ltd. announced the two companies have entered into an agreement for Pembina Pipeline to acquire all issued and outstanding shares of Inter Pipeline for approximately $8.3 billion. The transaction will create one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in Canada.

Matrix Solutions names Matthew Sutton as CEO

Calgary-based environment and engineering consulting firm Matrix Solutions has appointed Matthew Sutton as its new president and CEO. Sutton’s previous experience includes leading CH2M’s environment and nuclear management business, working on global environmental engineering services at AECOM and directing North American operations as executive vice-president at Arcadis.
