MERRITT, B.C. — A 75-unit apartment financed by the province has officially opened its doors in Merritt, B.C.
The province provided $16.6 million in low-interest financing to Olympic Villas Inc.
The project was organized by HousingHub, a division of BC Housing that focuses on creating partnerships between local groups, communities, charities, religious organizations and levels of government to create affordable housing.
Rent prices in the new apartment range from $1,082 for a studio to $2,380 for a three-bedroom.
“We are appreciative for the HousingHub program that goes beyond essential affordable housing to quality housing at market rents that make such remote development possible,” said Irfan Sonawala, director of Olympic Villas, in a statement.
