VICTORIA — Phase two of a student housing project has concluded on the Simon Fraser University (SFU) Burnaby campus introducing 383 more beds.
The first phase of the project opened in 2021 creating 482 single-room dormitory-style student beds on campus, states a news release.
The Residence Hall was completed with $73 million from the Government of British Columbia. Total cost was $108 million.
There is now a total of 2,450 student beds on campus.
“Post-secondary students need access to affordable housing to pursue their studies and lay the foundation for their future, helping to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow as they are the future of our province,” said Katrina Chen, MLA for Burnaby-Lougheed, in the release.
