ELKFORD, B.C. — The Elkford Childcare Centre and Community Hub in Elkford, B.C., has opened its doors introducing 30 new child care spaces into the community.
The new centre is the result of extensive renovations performed on a former District of Elkford municipal office building. The Government of British Columbia contributed $1.1 million to the project through its New Spaces Fund, according to a news release.
The building also received significant funding from the Columbia Basin Trust and Teck Resources Limited.
It will be operated by the Elkford Women’s Task Force Society and will offer free programs such as healthy eating and car-east clinics for families who attend the facility.
“Parents in Elkford will be so relieved and we are so excited to welcome the children and the families,” said Kim Bauer, executive director of the Elkford Women’s Task Force, in the release.
