Habitat for Humanity Manitoba presents keys to eight families

WINNIPEG — Habitat for Humanity for Manitoba has presented eight partner families with keys to their new homes.

Two families in Morden received keys to their brand new homes, and over the next couple of months Habitat Manitoba plans to celebrate an additional five key ceremonies in Brandon, Dauphin and Portage la Prairie.

The milestone is in thanks to the extensive chapter network that Habitat Manitoba has across the province and Kenora, Ont. states a release. Chapters are made up of volunteers and staff that represent and carry out the mission of Habitat.

The homes will provide stability and security for these families through Habitat’s affordable homeownership program, offering families an opportunity to purchase a safe and decent home through a unique financing partnership, adds the release.

Since 2019, the federal government has made a total funding commitment of $7.5 million towards Habitat Manitoba projects, including housing in Morden, Portage La Prairie, Dauphin and Brandon. The funding commitment from the National Housing Co-investment Fund includes a Black Families Funding investment of $4.18 million.
